The Rosehill Garden Racecourse will be host to one of the fullest race days this Saturday in the Golden Slipper Day, and while being highlighted by the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m), will see eight other great races take place.
One of which will be the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes (1100m), and at the moment has 16 quality nominations, all hoping to grab a share in the $125,000 prize money on offer.
Welkom Gold, trained by Darren Smith, is certainly one to watch for the Star Kingdom Stakes. The gelding recently won at Rosehill in the Listed Maurice McCarten Stakes (1100m), and over the 1,100 metre distance, beat fellow nominee Nightofthegeneral.
Clarry Conners’ four-year-old mare Dorf Command is coming into the race on good form. Her last two races have resulted in a win and second spot finish – including a win over Welkom Gold.
Griffon from Flying Spur may be the starter to beat.
However, Griffon from Flying Spur may be the starter to beat. The Bart Cummings-trained gelding has won his last three starts, beating Nightofthegeneral and Welkom Gold in two of the races.
Also taking place on Saturday at Rosehill will be the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m), the Group 1 The BMW (2400m) and the Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes (1500m).
